What The AI Stash collects, why, and how you control it.

This page exists so you know what’s collected on theaistash.com, why, and how to control it. Plain language, no lawyer-speak.

What this site collects

The AI Stash uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how readers find the site and which articles get read. Analytics only loads after you accept the cookie banner. The banner is shown only to visitors in the EU, UK, EEA, and Switzerland, where consent is legally required. Visitors elsewhere are tracked unless they reject via the same banner if they choose to surface it.

GA4 collects:

  • Pages you visit and time on each
  • Approximate location at city level (derived from IP, then anonymized by Google)
  • Browser, device, screen size
  • How you arrived (search query, social link, direct URL, referral)

GA4 does NOT collect:

  • Your name, email, or any personal identifier
  • What you type into forms or comments
  • Your full IP address (Google anonymizes it before storage)

If you decline the banner, no analytics script runs at all.

Newsletter

If you sign up for the newsletter at theaistash.com/newsletter, your email goes to Kit (formerly ConvertKit), which delivers the welcome course and occasional updates. You can unsubscribe via the link at the bottom of any email. Unsubscribing removes you from Kit’s records.

Search Console

The AI Stash is registered with Google Search Console, which shows me which search queries lead people to the site. GSC sees aggregated, anonymized query and click data. No personal user data is shared with me through GSC.

Third parties

These services run on theaistash.com or receive data when you visit:

  • Google Analytics 4, usage statistics, opt-in only for EU/UK/EEA visitors. Google’s privacy policy
  • Google Search Console, search performance data, no user data shared
  • Kit, newsletter delivery, only for subscribers. Kit’s privacy policy
  • Netlify, hosts the site and serves the pages. Netlify’s privacy policy
  • api.country.is, a free IP geolocation service used once per session to detect whether to show the EU/UK cookie banner. The IP is sent to country.is, no data is stored on theaistash.com servers
  • Google Fonts, served via fonts.googleapis.com. May log IPs. Google’s privacy policy

Your choices

  • Decline analytics, click Decline on the cookie banner. No tracking script runs.
  • Withdraw consent later, clear the aistash_consent entry in your browser’s localStorage for theaistash.com, the banner reappears on next visit.
  • Subject access (EU/UK/EEA), email hello@theaistash.com to request what’s stored about you, or to request deletion.
  • Unsubscribe from newsletter, click the link in any email or email hello@theaistash.com.
